Being a Wedding Photographer, I get the opportunity to work with and witness some of the most incredibly talented artists.
One of the things I envy is the ability to create art thru painting, or penmanship/calligraphy. I love seeing different fonts, handlettering, and watercolors all put together perfectly to make the most amazing custom designs. There are so many talented vendors out there, but I wanted to take some time to introduce you to one of the many talented artists that I have come to know.
Megan, with Peach Paper Design is not only insanely talented, but she holds a special place in my heart because of her work on my brand!
My new logo, business card, even color scheme all came from her! I simply told her how I wanted my brand to feel, the colors I felt something from, and she came up with the most perfect branding board. I literally squealed with joy when I pulled it up! I could not believe how perfect it was for me! See for yourself below!
Not only is she a talented brand artist, but an incredible water colorists and paper product designer! I wanted to highlight some of her work, but also let her tell you a little about herself! If you are in the market for custom work for your wedding, or event you should call her asap!
ME: How did you get started?
MEGAN: I studied graphic design in college and always had a clear direction as far as that went. My last semester in college, I designed my best friend’s wedding invitations and remember loving the whole process.
I can clearly remember telling my mom,
“If someone would just pay me to design wedding invitations for the rest of my life, I’d be happy.”
After I graduated, I got a job with a small stationery company in Houston as a designer. I learned so much there and am so thankful for that experience. It made me realize exactly what I wanted to do with my life. When I left that job, I was eager to get started working for myself. Here I am three years later and still love every part of it.
ME: Tell me about your favorite job last season.
MEGAN: I don’t think I can pick one favorite project from last year! But all of my watercolor suites are super special to me. Last year is really when I started to receive a lot of requests for hand painted watercolor. I love to paint and watercolor is by far my favorite medium. I never intended to be “the watercolor girl”, but I feel like that is what brides are really drawn to most in my work and I’m 110% okay with it. I love that I get to work with my hands a bit more and it can be a good challenge sometimes.
ME: How far out should a bride pay a deposit to secure your services for her wedding day?
MEGAN: My process for Save the Dates and Invitations takes about 1 month from start to finish. So typically I recommend the couple place their deposit 1.5-2 months ahead of their mail-out date. (Save the dates should be sent out 4-6 months ahead. Invitations should be sent out 6-8 weeks ahead).
ME: What is included when a couple books your services for their wedding?
MEGAN: At the moment, everything that I do is 100% custom. I don’t offer any packages because every wedding is unique and every couple needs/wants something just a little bit different. I design as little or as much as they would like. If they only want invitations, that is great. If they want save the dates, invitations, programs, menus, note cards, signage, place cards, koozies, napkins, etc – that is great, too!!
But every Save The Date and Invitation order includes:
3 custom design options for them to choose from
physical samples before the final order prints
1 rounds of revisions to make sure it’s just right
All assembly – done by hand
I also walk each couple through etiquette and help select the appropriate wording/insert cards for their event.
ME: How do you help couples customize their wedding?
MEGAN: Since everything is custom, it’s a super fun process that is tailored to each couple’s style, wants and needs. I design everything specifically with each couple/wedding in mind. They get to pick out paper colors, style, design, fonts, etc!
ME: What’s one interesting fact about you?
MEGAN: One interesting fact about me…that’s always a tough one! I was a dancer my whole life. I was a member of the Texas State University Strutters during college! I really miss those dance days and competitions!
ME: What do you have planned for the future?
MEGAN: I have been working on one big project that will finally come to fruition this year! It’s something I’ve talked about for a while but it’s been quite overwhelming to plan and work on while also juggling all of my client projects. I am adding pre-designed invitations to my website that will be available for direct purchase. This will be a GREAT option for brides who don’t want to go throught the whole custom process. It will also be great for brides who want to keep their stationery cost low. I plan to release a small watercolor collection first, then I will slowly add other styled collections.
ME: What makes your services/product unique?
MEGAN: I think my totally custom process is really what makes my services unique. If a bride requests a printing process or material that I’ve never worked with, I always do some research and find a vendor to make it happen. I love trying new things and love working with couples who think outside of the box!
