The Bridal Session and how to know when to get it on your photographers schedule.
Booking your Bridal Session can get complicated and I get asked the question “When should I book my Bridal Session?” A LOT! So let’s dig into the details of how and when to schedule your Bridal Session.
PRINTS OR CANVAS
First things first… will you be ordering Prints or Canvas? And will you be framing if you order prints?
I’ll speak to ordering thru me, there are alternatives that you can research…
If ordering prints, it takes roughly 3-6 business days (if having them shipped to you, no more than 3 days if shipped to me and picked up). This is our most flexible option. We could do your session as little as 3 weeks out with this option.
Every print ordered from me that is a 5×7 or larger is printed on a matboard, this is to make it sturdy and very unlikely to tear or break. It fits in any frame like this as well. I’ve even had brides order a large 20×24 Bridal portrait and put just the print on an easel…it is that sturdy!
FRAMING
HOWEVER…
If you choose the print route and want to frame it well then it can get a bit more complicated!
Choosing a standard sizing for prints will allow you to just pick up a beautiful print from your preferred store (even Michael’s or Hobby Lobby work).
*Standard Size examples are 8×10, 11×14, 16×20, 20×24 etc
If you are considering a non standard size, maybe to reduce the cropping necessary (straight out of camera the images are a 4×6 ratio, so when choosing a standard size frame you have to keep in mind the cropping that will need to be done in order to fit your frame), you’ll need to special order your frame and research the time it will take to arrive.
You could also go the professional framing route!
If you go this route (Hobby Lobby does this but we also have a few professional framing companies in town and who doesn’t like to #supportlocal by buying small?!) it can take up to 6 weeks.
Here are a few local to the Bryan/College Station area to look into:
Laura’s Custom Framing
Myra’s Gallery & Custom Framing
The Frame Gallery
CANVAS
Another great option is Canvas Prints. When you order your portraits on Canvas you don’t have to worry about framing if you don’t want (Framed Canvas is a thing!). They come mounted and ready to hang, and are easily displayed with an easel.
Canvas takes roughly 10 business days to arrive so another fairly quick solution!
Now that you’ve got your print medium chosen, this should help you decide when you absolutely need to have your gallery back from me.
Bridal Sessions typically last an hour, and takes me up to two weeks to get your gallery to you. So when thinking about scheduling, take into account the time it will take to get your gallery delivered + order your portraits.
Picking out your Wedding Dress is one of the most fun experiences! And your Wedding Dress boutique + alterations will be able to tell you when your dress should be ready. Once you know that date, let’s get it on the books! The calendar fills up quickly so the sooner we get it on the better, I never want you to have to feel rushed or choose a different type of portrait than you originally wanted due to lack of available dates.
