When planning your wedding, things can get overwhelming. Here are a few things to keep in mind!
- His mom is not the enemy!
This time in your life will be fleeting, and making an enemy out of your soon to be Mother-in-Love could be catastrophic for your marriage! Learn to be gracious and loving even when she has suggested things you would absolutely not want! Let her be involved, even in a small way, she will appreciate it! - Get a Wedding Binder, it will be a life line!!!
There are so many Binders out there! One that I haven’t seen myself but I do follow the creator, Megan, and hear AMAZING things about is Little White Book. - Surround yourselves with those who will encourage you, love you, and speak life into your marriage throughout the years.
You will have rough times. You will be tempted to say things you don’t mean about your spouse. You need to have people that will see right thru the moments of weakness and speak life back into your marriage! I encourage every couple to have someone you each trust to confide in. I have someone my husband has approved, and vice versa. This way we both trust the counsel we are receiving is going to bring us together not tear us apart. - Plan for a Cocktail Hour!
A cocktail hour has multiple functions, but a big one is it will keep your guests occupied while you finish pictures! And heres the kicker…you don’t have to serve cocktails! Just have something to drink or snack on for your guests to enjoy until you arrive.
BONUS: Have it in a separate area from your reception so that your photographer has plenty of opportunity to capture all of the gorgeous details you worked so hard on. A lot of times all of the little touches aren’t done till you are having your ceremony, and then we can’t capture those without people around! - Remember what this whole thing is about in the first place.
This event is more than the linens, flowers, personalized candies or whatever else little touches you are working so hard to make happen! The whole point, the one and only reason you are really doing this, is to declare your LOVE for each other in front of friends and family. To commit to being his lobster (blatant Friends reference)!
All in all, give yourself grace! Planning a Wedding is a huge undertaking!
But I believe in YOU! YOU GOT THIS!
