Attending a Workshop is not just a dream I had, but I think a necessary part of furthering my education and networking! I am finally blogging this amazing opportunity I had.
This blog will be two parts, so be sure to check back next week for the second half!
One thing that has impacted my journey in photography immensely is following photographers that have come before me. Researching those that are doing it right, and dissecting their work to become better at mine. Thru the years, I have become a… “collector” of photographers if you will. And I would say this has impacted my work for the better more than most anything.
It is the way we all learn really. Observing and learning from those who have come before us; those who have been successful in our respective fields.
I could spout of names of those I have followed through the years, but unless you are a photographer you probably wouldn’t know them. To those of us that are photographers…we look up to them and are so incredibly grateful for the way they hold their hands open ready to teach!
Amy & Jordan are two of the photographers that I have been following and learning from for quite some time now. I had been faithfully reading their emails, and blogs, soaking in every morsel of education that they freely handed out. I longed to do a workshop with them, and had already decided that I would for sure sign up for one in 2017… until I saw the snapchat on July 20th 2016.
I love following these two on snap and insta story, altho insta story had barely made its debut, so I was a snapchat girl all the way! I remember this day so vividly!
I was sitting in my driveway, I don’t remember where I had been, but before I exited the car I decided to run thru my snaps real quick. I got to Amy’s and I saw her reveal an extra workshop they were putting together in October of 2016! We had just sold our house, and Chris and I had already said that we would save some back for me to attend the workshop of my choice. I immediately emailed Jordan, and booked my spot a few days later. I was so incredibly excited to be meeting two of my favorite photographers!
Fast forward to October, and I was off to Scottsdale, Arizona! We had all been added to a private FB group and I had already begun to make friends with the other attendees. And one of the girls and I got together for brunch at this amazing little brunch spot with the most incredible eggs benedict, and PINEAPPLE UPSIDE DOWN PANCAKES!! Those I could eat every day! They were so good!
This was my first time away from Harrison by myself for this long… I was excited for the extra sleep time, and a little alone time! Was hoping for a refreshing week, and was excited to be pouring into my business thru education!
That evening we had our first meet n greet with Amy & Jordan and the rest of the attendees! We met at Some Like it Classic adorable shop! Sat in a circle and got to know each other. It was a great first evening. I couldn’t wait for the morning!
The next morning I woke up bright and early, went to the Starbucks down the road and had breakfast and coffee and watched the sun rise.
The next two days were filled with long days of Amy & Jordan giving us all their insider info, and a stylized shoot so that we could practice our skills at shooting details, and the bride and groom portraits, along with lots of business tips and shooting techniques.
Isn’t this little bundle of goodness so cute?!!
