Katie & Mitch’s beautiful Engagement Session at Lick Creek Park, College Station, TX
I met Katie & Mitch on my road trip to Arkansas earlier this year.
It’s not like it sounds, we didn’t meet at a diner somewhere along the way, hit it off and now I’m shooting their wedding, although that would be totally cool a really fun story to tell!
No I just happened to be on a road trip to Arkansas to visit friends when we had their consultation! It was about halfway thru the trip and the kids were itching to get out of the car so it actually worked out perfectly. Gave me an excuse to pull over, feed my children all the fries and have adult conversation (did I not mention this road trip was by myself with the littles?? Yea, Katie & Mitch were a welcome break).
These two are adorably in love. No, for real they are! Her nose squint, the way he looks at her…it’s all so precious!
For their Engagement Session, we met at one of our local parks. It was a beautiful day, just enough chill and not a cloud in the sky.
Honestly, I try to avoid shooting in January because of the unpredictable nature of the weather…however, this day did not disappoint.
They arrived with their sweet fur baby in tow (I am LOVING all these precious pups in my Engagement Sessions lately! I think last week makes 3 in a row)!
I get asked quite often if it is ok to bring pets to sessions…the answer is a resounding YES! Your pets are a part of your family, and I love including the family pets in sessions!
Engagement Sessions are so fun! I love this time to get to know my couples a little better, to hear how Wedding planning is going and to allow them to get a feel for what it’s like in front of my camera.
Why do I think every couple should do an Engagement Session with their Wedding Photographer? Let me list it out so you know for sure why I think it is so important:
- So that we can begin to build a foundation of a relationship together. Whether you are an outgoing people person and we don’t stop talking the entire session, or you are more reserved and quiet and we just spend quality time together. These moments are so important in helping me to understand you individually and as a couple. This helps me tell your story better.
- It’s like Portrait boot camp! I spend time teaching you poses, and building on them…by the end of every Engagement Session my couples know exactly where I want their legs, hands and chin to be! I want to build confidence in you knowing that of everything on your Wedding Day that might cause you stress, portraits won’t be one because you have GOT THIS!
- Because I want you to be able to look back on this time together. Being Engaged is a special time in your lives. It’s a time of anticipation and preparation for an incredible journey together.
