I remember in the beginning of my wedding photography career leaving the timeline prep all to the bride. Then arriving at the wedding and wondering why I didn’t have enough time to take all the pictures I knew I would want and my client would want! Oh the stress!!!
Thankfully I have grown in not only my skill but also my ability to help create a timeline that is both conducive for the bride and her crew as well as for my crew and myself!!
Very early on I send a Wedding Guide that has a sample timeline in it for my brides to read. This helps set the tone for the day. Helps my brides to take into account things they may not have even thought about. It helps set the timeline up for the best photographic outcome. Because as we all know, the pictures are what will last, and we want to be able to provide pictures of all of the gorgeous details our brides have worked tirelessly to make their day unique and gorgeous! We also want plenty of portrait time!! My favorite thing about the wedding day is the time I get to spend with my sweet couples after they are married!! Getting the honor of capturing their first portraits together is something I don’t take for granted!!
The first things I would suggest for any bride out there, is to not wait till the last minute for this! If your photographer (if it isn’t me!) is willing and able to help you with this, take advantage!! If they are an experienced Wedding Photographer, they’ve been thru this a time or two and can have some really great insights!
