This week we have moved into our new home AND we are visiting one of my very best friends in Florida! It’s been a busy week so far, you know, traveling with 5 of our kiddos and all…
*Feel free to check out my InstaStory for the behind the scenes of our trip!*
We have been checking the weather and checking and checking, hoping and praying that we will get a little sun so we can hit the beach! The forecast shows rain every day we are here, so we’re hoping we can grab some beach time in between the storms!
But it got me thinking about rain on a wedding day!
Most weddings are now held outside, with so many gorgeous venues offering beautiful outdoor options! So it is absolutely reasonable for a bride to be super anxious about rain on her big day! I even recently overheard a conversation as I was checking into a hotel, of a bride talking about her fear of rain. I told her “Don’t worry! Rain is good luck!” To which her response was…”but the pictures!!!” I tried to reassure her that her photographer would know how to handle it and not to worry.
But I get it! It’s one of the most memorable days of your life, you have a specific dream/vision for your day. And rain is not in that vision! It has NO PLACE! Right?!
Well first of all, I am totally here to tell you I completely empathize. Your feelings are valid and I want to acknowledge that!
But…and this is a BIG but!! Rainy Day Portraits Can Be Just As Gorgeous!!!! Especially if your photographer knows what she/he is doing!
We can’t control the weather, but we sure can control how we react to it, and the ways that we give you a stunning gallery regardless of sun or no sun!
If there is rain, I try to be very flexible with the timeline. We may have to move some things around, and that’s ok!
If it is raining or looks like rain, I will scout out spots to do portraits in case we need to be under cover. I just need a little overhang! I can always have someone (let’s be honest…Chris!) hold an umbrella over me!
I will reassure you every step of the way to not worry, I have this, I am confident and not worried. You will get stunning Wedding Portraits that you will love for years to come! Your vision just may need to be tweaked a bit.
And here is the big thing to remember. If the day is cloudy and overcast, it is a natural diffuser so the light is perfect no matter if it is normally super bright or not! Which means we even have MORE options for locations to take your Portraits. And dark and moody clouds could also make for really amazing portraits!!
Overall, trust the team you have on your side. Because we ARE on your side!
